Who we are

After our 3rd dog passed away, we weren’t ready to adopt another quite yet. Growing up with a small poodle (16), a giant husky (13) and then a mixed husky/sheba inu/chow (17), we’ve seen our share of different personality traits.

Volunteering at the NHSPCA was also a great learning experience walking dogs of all ages, sizes and temperaments. Being a participant in numerous classes throughout the seacoast was also very useful in understanding various dogs behaviors. Some of those classes included; Intro to Nosework, Agility On/Off Leash, Grumpy Growlies 1 and 2 and Dogs on the Move. Plus Pet CPR and First Aid.

After rescuing a reactive, abused 3 year old pup, we soon realized things were going to be different. Our pup had separation anxiety, wasn’t fond of humans, and disliked almost every dog he met. Leaving our dog at a daycare, was never a good option because he became so stressed out with all the other dogs around. He preferred a calm and quiet space. Because of him, 1 Dog At A Time was born. We understand the need for a home environment to help soothe your pups anxieties while you’re away. Like many pets that bond with their humans, they do not like change. We offer a quiet, calm, low stress setting while you’re away.
